iOS 7 beta 4 may be heading to iPhones and iPad from today.
The fourth iteration of Apple's iOS 7 platform will not introduce any new features, but will instead concentrate on bug fixing known problems inside iOS 7 beta 3.
So far, many users of iOS 7 have reported issues with the software's effect on battery life, most notably on the iPhone 4S. Other problems people have discussed regarding the iOS 7 beta 3 update include iDevices randomly crashing.
People have also complained about the native app icons, saying the redesign is 'ugly', but whether Apple will tweak those features remain to be seen.
One issue which is being widely reported is that some apps receive duplicates of push notifications, or worse still, none at all. The iOS 7 beta 4 update will apparently address all of these issues ahead of the gold-standard release later this year.
The prediction that iOS 7 beta 4 is coming today has been assumed because Apple usually rolls out beta updates every two weeks. The last iOS 7 update (iOS 7 beta 3) happened on July 8, meaning the next one – iOS 7 beta 4 – is due today (July 22).
iOS 7 beta 3 included a handful of new features including bolder text and a new search box, a new app download animation, the removal of the battery charge animation and a keyboard tweak in Safari.
Apple also now allows the time to be displayed on the lock screen while playing music. It also featured some Calendar and Accessibility changes and a new animation when you pull down to refresh inside the Mail app.
iOS 7 beta updates have been downloaded and installed more times than any other iOS update. Onswipe analysed the number of downloads and discovered iOS 7 is running on 0.46 percent of devices. This may sound like a very small proportion of iPhone and iPads, but when you consider there are around half a billion iPhones and iPads in circulations, this does account for a pretty high number.
